The Third Set of 12 America Idol Contestants Plus the Wildcard Selection

Thursday, 5 March, 2009

idol-logo

Third Batch, in my own opinion, were the ones not much highlighted during the course of Hollywood week, with the exception of Nathaniel and Kristen, but they are the ones who have better talent than the others.
Still, a lot of wrong song choices here though!  arghh

Von Smith – “You’re All I Need To Get By” by Martin Gaye, yeah, he minimized screaming this time, I kinda liked his performance, it’s definitely a better come back from the “embarrassment” he had with Simon. I laughed out loud when Simon said, “I don’t whether you’re gonna take this as a compliment or not but you remind me of Clay Aiken…”

Taylor Vaifanua – “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys, only a number of people can sing this song and she’s not one of them. A waste of talent.

Alex Wagner-Trugman – “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues” by Elton John, this one is boring…if it wasn’t for that “kicking the microphone stand” thing I almost wouldn’t notice him at all.

Arianna Afsar – “The Winner Takes It All” by ABBA, this is the most wrong song choice of them all! You do not touch ABBA’s songs, you just appreciate them and not murder them! Another waste of talent! She should have stuck with that “cute as a button” thing, tsk tsk tsk…wrong interpretation of the judges’ comment!

Ju’not Joyner – “Hey There Delilah” by Plain White T’s, when I heard the song he picked I said to myself, “No, not that song again!”, but then I kinda liked his rendition of the song here. Very soothing voice.

Kristen McNamara – “Give Me One Reason” by Tracy Chapman, the dress didn’t suit the song and the performance, the voice is great but still a wrong song choice…what’s with picking up the old songs from the Billboard Top 100?! Gosh…

Nathaniel Marshall – “I Would Do Anything For Love” by Meatloaf, erase what I said about ABBA’s song as the wrong song choice of them all. This is the worst song choice of the whole season! Hate it to the nth power! Makes me want to tie him down and put him inside a box and throw him somewhere where he can’t escape!

Felicia Barton – “No One” by Alicia Keys, she did a good thing with this song but not good enough for me. Just a mere copycat of Alicia Keys’ voice. I liked her from the auditions even though she wasn’t highlighted enough and this chance that was given to her comes just once in a lifetime…but sorry, I don’t think she’ll make it to the Top 12.

Scott MacIntyre – “Mandolin Rain” by Bruce Hornsby, he did it well though it was kinda boring at first. I’m a fan since he auditioned because I can feel his passion to music. Based on his performance, I think he will make it.

Kendall Beard – “This One’s For The Girls” by Martina McBride, nice voice but her performance and rendition came to me as ordinary. Not enough to make it to the Top 12. Didn’t made much of an impression and it had some pitchy points when she was singing.

Jorge Nunez – “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” by Elton John, definitely an improvement from his past performances. One thing about him, he puts so much passion while singing.

Lil Rounds – “Be Without You” by Mary J. Blige, this girl blew me away! I love the voice, love the song, love the performance! ‘Nuff said!

+++++++++++++++++

The Elimination Round:

The opening performance was great! When I’ve read that they will be singing Hot ‘N Cold by Katy Perry I thought that it would be disastrous but hey they proved me wrong! I love it!

So the first one in was Lil Rounds, very deserving! Second was Scott MacIntyre, very good! Third was, Jorge Nunez, great! This round the people who got in have so much passion in them, I hope that they will still pick the right songs.

The Wildcard Selection:

These are the people who will perform tomorrow for the Wildcard!
Von Smith, Jasmine Murray, Ricky Braddy, Megan Corkrey, Tatiana Del Toro (who got hysterical, as expected), Matt Giraud, Jesse Langseth, and Anoop Desai (who definitely was stunned)!!!

clappingx

This is gonna be one hell of a Wildcard Show!!! arghh

The Second Set of 12 American Idol Contestants

Saturday, 28 February, 2009

idol-logo

Warning: Bitchy comments! I’ve watched their performances 4x just to be sure that I heard them right! In general, WRONG SONG CHOICES and a waste of time and talent!
arghh

Jasmine Murray – “Love Song” by Sara Bareilles, WTH is that?! I thought my ears bled from that performance! Very pitchy and annoying! Waste of talent!

Matt Giraud – “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay, very disappointing! I liked him during the Hollywood week. What a waste!

Jeanine Vailes – “This Love” by Maroon 5, it’s murder! I hate it! Gotta give her that great legs as the only compliment.

Nick Mitchell/Norman Gentle – “And I’m Telling You” by Jennifer Hudson, he should be in America’s Got Talent show not here in American Idol! I bet he’ll do well in that competition.

Allison Iraheta – “Alone” by Heart, this is the performance and talent that we are all looking for this season! I love her! Definitely worthy to be in the Top 3! wooot!

Kris Allen – “Man In The Mirror” by Michael Jackson, he was trying so hard but it’s not that good! I agree with Geyp, “forgettable”!

Megan Corkrey – “Put Your Records On” by Corrine Bailey Rae, I don’t know but I really didn’t like her voice at all and her performance was so irritating to my ears! And what’s with that annoying body twist?!

Matt Breitzke – “If You Could Only See” by Tonic, he’s very confident with his song choice, very wrong…

Jesse Langseth – “Bette Davis Eyes” by Kim Carnes, not such a great performance, it’s just okay. Better than karaoke though.
Kai Kalama – “What Becomes Of A Broken Hearted” by Jimmy Ruffin, waste! waste! waste! arghh

Mishanova Henson – “Drops of Jupiter” by Train, I like her voice, but very forgettable performance…another waste!

Adam Lambert – “Satisfaction” by Benny Bennasi, I hate this guy! Too NOISY and too gay! Hate that shoulder moves. Hate that screaming and theatrical rendition. It’s like I wanna tear my ears off and shove it inside his mouth to make him shut up!

____________

The results:

This is the worst batch! Singing “Closer” by Ne-Yo like that?! WTH?! arghh

Allison really is deserving to be included in the Top 12, but the other two? I can take Kris, but Adam – Ugh! (barf)
Love the new single of Brooke White…she’s one of my favorites last year, too!  wubclub

@Dru, I will hate the day that Jason Castro will visit the American Idol to sing again…arghh

The First Set of 12 American Idol Contestants

Thursday, 19 February, 2009

idol-logo

Now here is that something new about how the Top 12 will be chosen: they’ve divided the 36 contestants into 3 batches of 12, each week the 12 contestants will perform, and only 3 will go through – the girl and boy with the highest number of votes plus the next highest vote getter (either a boy or a girl). This means that 9 of the contestants from that week that they perform will be out after just one performance! So this is a ONE SHOT deal, you blew it then you’re out. Now that will only make up the Top 9, the other 3 will be the Wildcards, chosen by the judges from the eliminated lot from the Wildcard Show, thus making the Top 12.

For last night’s Performance Night: Hits From the Billboard Top 100

Jackie Tohn – sang “A Little Less Conversation” by Elvis Presley; very entertaining to watch but not very much in the ears…pitchy, maybe because she moves too much!

Ricky Braddy – sang “A Song For You” by Leon Russel; this really is a hard song to sing, I loved the Carpenters’ version, Ricky’s version though didn’t blew me away that much though it was very good!

Alexis Grace – sang “Never Loved A Man” by Aretha Franklin; now that is a singer! She got the voice, the looks, the moves and the right song choice! For me she’s the Top Female for the week! As Simon said, just like Kelly Clarkson! Woot!

Brent Keith – sang “Hicktown” by Jason Aldean; more on the safe side but did a good performance, he’ll do well in the country genre. He’s got voice and he’s got beautiful eyes…he’s cute! But cute is not enough to get him through.

Stevie Wright – sang “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift; oh gosh! Sooo not the right song for her! It’s more on the low range and her voice is on a higher note! Disastrous, so not good to hear her sing that! arghh

Anoop Desai – sang “Angel Of Mine” by Monica; I love this guy, what can I say? I love this song and for me he did very good…it’s like hearing a great love song being sung to you by this great voice…it connected…although it’s kind of safe for me. He’s my Top 3 still!

Casey Carlson – sang “Every Little Thing She (He) Does Is Magic” by The Police; that was all WRONG! Though she’s got the looks and the body…the dancing made it worst! I literally cringed as I hear her finish that song! Like bikini girl, it’s not enough that you’re HOT, this is a singing competition not a swimsuit beauty contest!

Michael Sarver – sang “I Don’t Wanna Be” by Gavin DeGraw; I kinda like his performance, it’s the other side of him that’s fun and trendy. I like him.

Ann Marie Boskovich – sang “Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin; she didn’t nail that song…she has a great voice but she blew this song…not a good song choice for her kind of voice. What a shame, I like her from way back the auditions.

Stephen Fowler – sang “Rock With You” by Michael Jackson; oh gosh…not good…so far the only one who nailed a Michael Jackson song was David Cook! This performance was so wrong. He took the risk and now he’s dead.

Tatiana Del Toro – sang “Saving All My Love For You” by Whitney Houston; at first I was thinking: WHAT THE HELL?!, but surprisingly she really got the voice but it didn’t came out that strong enough for me, it’s a Whitney Houston song and it’s supposed to be powerful! And where’s the crazy Tatiana hiding?! :D

Danny Gokey – sang “Hero” by Mariah Carey; love it! Love him! I really want him to be in the Top 12…maybe Top 2! But I can’t help to compare…he still lacks that power voice that David Cook has. Yeah, I am comparing these men to David Cook! :P

So basically, my bets for last night’s performance are Alexis, Danny and Anoop or Ricky.

February 19, 2009, 8:43PM -

They opened the show singing “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz…then the usual calling out of the contestants to reveal if they make it or not. And the ones that will make it in will sing their song…unlike last year where the one who didn’t make it will have the chance to sing their last song. First one to make it was Alexis Grace, no doubt about that…WoooHooo! Then Michael Sarver got in against Anoop Desai (only 20,000 votes away!)…oh no…but I think Anoop will make it in the Wildcard competition, he’s a favorite! I hope, I hope, I hope…Then an astonishing performance from Carly Smithson and Michael Johns, two of the Top 12 last year! Wooot! And so the last one to make it in the final 3 of this week was Danny Gokey! YES! Two of my bets last night got in! Happy na rin kahit papano…still crossing my fingers for Anoop Dogg!

My Comments for the American Idol Season 8

Friday, 13 February, 2009

This is a compilation of all of my comments, the ones that made sense, posted in our American Idol 8 thread at the Morning Rush forum.

January 14, 2009, 10:40PM -

Love the opening video montage of all the footage from season 1 to 8 with “What a Wonderful World” in the background…got teary eyed when I saw that announcement when David Cook won…(emo mode?)

Emily Wynne-Hughes, definitely will watch out for her, Paula said she can be one of the Top 5 this season.

Saw that Katrina, the one who wore that two-piece, and got the two lady judges pissed off…wanna know if she’ll make it far enough… :D

January 28, 2009, 11:28PM -

for today’s episode of AI the only one who stood out for me was “Anne Marie” (?), the one who the judges asked to come back a little later to show her own style and prove herself…you can see in Simon’s smile that this girl will go the distance! Love her vocal style and her looks…it’s the whole package!

on a side note, love the outfit of Kara…and also that “making out” scene of her and Paula… :D

February 4, 2009, 8:29AM -

Ice_wolf posted this video he found on Youtube:

My reaction:  ^ WHOA! Goosebumps! Malupet ang boses! notworthy
she really knows what she was saying about those who auditioned for this season…bitchy, yes, she kinda overpowered Simon in some of the episodes I’ve seen! But I like her…let’s see what will happen next during Hollywood week and the finals!

February 4, 2009, 11:11PM -

Out of 147 contestants, 104 na lang ang natira…
Kakaiba ngayon dahil may “boot camp” pa sila, and Barry Manilow welcomed them with a very inspiring message telling them that the judges and him wanted these people to be the next American Idol but it is still up to them to show if they are deserving to be one.

I Will Always Love You!

Nakapasok din yung mag-besfriend na Jamar at Danny Gokey who by the way sang Kiss From A Rose, gave me goosebumps sa galing nya…with all the right song choices I am sure he will be one of the Top 3 if not the winner.

May mga nakapasok din na “favorites” nila nung audition who didn’t do well enough kanina like Emily (pink-haired girl) but they deserve a second chance naman din talaga.

It’s gonna be a very exciting group performance and elimination tomorrow!!! Can’t wait!!!

February 5, 2009, 10:38PM -

WHEW! A very stressful episode today! Too much drama, anger, and expletives!
biglaugh
They started with 104 contestants and now only 74 survived the dreaded group performance challenge.

The first group was really amazing, the other groups didn’t do very well…actually, some really sucked big time…maybe it was because of Simon’s warning, “Forget the words and you’re out.” or secretly they want to sabotage each other.

But I am very happy when Katrina aka bikini girl got eliminated, and Kara was the one who announced it! Also she was really the one to blame why her group sucked and only Jasmine got through, what an egotistic selfish manipulating little bitch! Goodbye, *tooot*! biglaugh

Sad to see Emily leave, why the hell did she forgot the lyrics?! What a waste…but I hope to see her again in the future AI seasons.

Love the performance made by Jamar and Danny’s group…
notworthy
I Love Anoop, still the best! clappingx

Now, we’ll see who’s gonna make it to the Top 36 next week!

February 11, 2009, 10:15PM -

With tonight’s episode, here are my comments and some favorites:

Adam Lambert – very risky singing “Believe” by Cher, he’s got a good voice but I think it’s just not that manly enough for me. David Cook could have nailed that song very well just like what he did with “Always Be My Baby” (lumabas na naman ang pagka-Cookie fan ko! hehehe…)

Matt Giraud – he got a standing ovation from the 3 judges, very good voice and great solo performance

Jamar Rogers – not very much impressed with his version of “Hey There Delilah” but I guess they have to continue the “bromance” with his bestfriend…

Danny Gokey – okay, I admit he is one of my favorites now, I got goosebumps when he sang “I Hope You Dance”, still with the right song choices he will make it to the top 5.

Anoop Desai – this man is awesome! love the voice, the moves, and he maintained his cool as he was waiting with the others, he was just listening to his music

Scott Macintyre – I am so glad that he made it this far, I haven’t seen or noticed him last week for the solo and group performance. He really did well with the keyboard and his rendition of “I’m Going Home”, almost made me cry (*sob*) but he’s not going home, not yet!

Lil Rounds – just an okay performance singing that “If I Ain’t Got You”

Jasmine Murray – I’m not blown away by her singing “Tattoo”, but it’s good

Leneshe Young – one word: SAYANG…well maybe she’ll have another chance next year….

Tatiana – didn’t like her even from the beginning, OA as in over! She reminds me of someone sa mga pag-iinarte nya, kilos at expression ng mukha nya…ang sarap nya ingudngod sa sahig…hahaha…and I really believe that she will not make it to the final top 36…kelangan lang nila ng panabla kaya sya nakapasok eh! booo…

Michael Castro is one of those who got eliminated tonight! Wooot! (I didn’t really like him, same as his brother!)

That’s it so far…let’s see what will happen tomorrow! Will the “bromance” be broken or not? hmmm… ;)

February 13, 2009, 12:45AM -

I love today’s FINAL CUT episode! arghh

54 contestants…they only need the TOP 36! Me likey that judges’ mansion…*dreamland*
And that “sing off” strategy to pick from the contestants that they are not sure of is THE BEST! “Sing for your survival” as Simon says…

First one who got in…Anoop Desai!!! arghh Love him! I finally saw his performance at Group Day, they sang ~what becomes of a broken hearted…~ he said he feels even more confident as the competition moves on…very nice…he really is deserving to make it! (one of my favorites of course!)

Von Smith got in…I’m not a fan. Too noisy for me.

Alex Wagner-Trugman won from his sing off with Cody Sheldon…it’s just alright for me.
Adam Lambert got in…we better watch out for more “Gayvid” performances!  biglaugh

Taylor Vaifanua got in…she really impressed the judges…”She can sing”…

Jasmine Murray, Arianna Afsar, Casey Carlson, Megan Corkrey, Mishavonna Henson, and Stevie Wright also got in.

Joanna Pacitti, the girl who always forget the lyrics during Hollywood week also had another chance, I hope she can prove herself…she’d better stock up on lots of Glutaphos!

Kendall Beard got in…I hope she’ll pick more upbeat songs para hindi naman sya boring…

Kristen McNamara (who got the voice but with an identity crisis and a hideous outfit!) won from her sing off with Jenn Korbee (who got the looks but not much of a voice and chose the wrong song for her survival!). Simon’s not really happy about it!

Alexis Grace (Hilary Duff look-alike) also got in. Go single mom! Make your daughter proud! :)

Scott Macintyre made it…not really coming home for a long time…

Lil Rounds got in…I’m not yet a fan but I like her.

Jesse Langseth won over Frankie Jordan in their sing off…I’m not a fan of either of them, awful song choices! My gosh! They both should be cut off! And Simon, what a mean but honest comment! hahaha…

Allison Iraheta (red-haired 16 yr old) got in…”raw natural talent”…let’s see how far she can make it!

Danny Gokey got in but his bestfriend Jamar Rogers didn’t make it…just what I thought would happen after that “Hey There Delilah” performance! Better luck next year, man! Dramatic bromance has ended.

Ricky Braddy, Matt Giraud, Ju’not Joyner, Jorge Nunez and Brent Keith also got in.

Stephen Fowler got another chance from that disappointing performance…lucky him he got real talent!

Nick Mitchell aka Norman Gentle, “I’ll even wear a bikini like bikini girl, I will do anything to get through to the next round…anything…” yeah, I believe him! Well, he got in! They needed comedy! It’s CRAZY! But I like his voice somehow.

Jackie Tohn (rocker-voice chick) got in…also love her version of “I Hope You Dance” during that solo performance. Wanna see how far she’ll go. “Oh, it’s so cool…”

Tatiana Del Toro, that awfully annoying little *tooot* also got in…If “Nick Norman” is the “comedy act” then Tatiana is the overacting “drama act”. Ugh, I hate her! But I wanna see her cry a river when that time comes that she’s OUT! I laughed my heart out when Simon teased Paula when she gave her star ring to Tatiana. And notice how the other contestants react when she entered the room screaming? SHOCKED!

Jackie Midkiff lost the sing off between him and Nathaniel Marshall (who by the way with that outfit will fit right in here in the Philippines along with those scarf people!), another broken bromance. hahaha…

Jeanine Vailes, Kai Kalama, Anne Marie Boskovich and Kris Allen also joined the Top 36.

Matt Breitzke (welder, Kansas) and Michael Sarver (oil rigger, Phoenix)

Now we are off to the 12 contestants for the first group to perform next week: Casey, Stephen, Jackie, Ricky, Anne Marie, Brent, Alexis, Michael, Stevie, Danny, Tatiana and Anoop! (love that happy, sexy, funny dancing that they made after the show)

That’s all for now, folks!  chatterbox

“fresh news: joanna pacitti was disqualified…sayang..”

Too bad…Pero tama lang din kasi semi-PRO na sya in this business…they should give others the chance to shine, she already had hers and will probably have it again now that this thing happened! Any kind of publicity is still publicity!

So, sino na ang kapalit nya sa Top 36?

I don’t have my Top 12 yet…but definitely Anoop, Danny, Jasmine, Lil, Jackie (rocker chick) and Allison are one of them!

@ rhix: si felicia barton yung papalit.
thanks sa link, Geyp!

Felicia Barton…she’s the one who sang a different rendition of Put Your Records On during the auditions, right? If she is then it’s okay for me. I like her.

PACQUIAO vs. DE LA HOYA: Dream Match or a MisMatch?

Monday, 8 December, 2008

thebout

I still can’t believe my eyes with what I saw yesterday, December 7th – Sunday afternoon here in the Philippines, in this so-called dream match between our very own “Pambansang Kamao” Manny ‘Pacman’ PACQUIAO and “The Golden Boy” Oscar DE LA HOYA! I must admit that I had my doubts in Pacquiao winning this boxing match. Please don’t get me wrong, my fellow Filipinos, but I was just being realistic when I saw the “advantages” of De la Hoya in this fight. But this time, I was proven wrong and yet again Pacquiao deliberately erased that cliche – SIZE does MATTER and became the victorious David in this David-and-Goliath type of match. He won fair and square, and I think this match has ended with both of their dignities still intact.

For me, this is the BEST EVER fight of Manny Pacquiao, and we all owe it to his boxing coach Freddie Roach! Yeah! Without his superior knowledge of this sport and specifically of Oscar De la Hoya (since he was his boxing coach before) I don’t think that Manny will even reach this level of his boxing career! Freddie Roach is the most important key to Manny’s victorious fights, without him even the biggest sacrifices in Manny’s part will never give him victory. I salute Freddie Roach, both hands down and two thumbs up for this great boxing coach. Like he said, this fight is personal and not a game after all.

Manny Pacquiao as “the little Jack-in-the-box”, that is the metaphor used by one of the English Commentators  from the HBO Pay Per View, I laughed so hard about it. I call him the “Ninja” of boxing! That is because of his too quick-for-the-eyes movement (or at least to his opponents), his offense and defense,  were flawless this time! De la Hoya became just an old “punching bag” righ there! I have watched the GMA7’s feature last Saturday night before the fight, HBO’s 24/7 – a documentary feature about Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De la Hoya in their intense preparation for the fight and there the camp of De la Hoya have said that – “there will be a knock-out” in the fight. And so, look who’s talking now!

The fight ended after the 8th Round, where De la Hoya already suffered a very swollen left side of his face. His team stopped the fight before the start of the 9th round. The wheels have turned upside down when the underdog, Manny, have became the master! My tears rolled down after the fight, really…this is the best fight ever! D

TWILIGHT Soup

Monday, 1 December, 2008

edward-bella

Why titled Twilight Soup? Because this blog is a collection of some of the Twilight inspired comments and quotes…found these from the Multiply account of the Twilighters…enjoy! ;)

A NORMAL GUY VS. EDWARD CULLEN

A normal guy would say: “I love you Baby!”
Edward Cullen would say: “You are my life now.”

Normal Guy would say: “I think I am falling for you.”
Edward Cullen would say: “The Lion fell in Love with the Lamb”

Normal Guy would say: “You hair looks like a haystack; go brush it!”
Edward Cullen would say: “Your hair looks like a haystack… but I like it.”

A normal guy would pick a random song from a random artist and dedicate it to you.
Edward Cullen would sing you a song he wrote for you while playing the piano.

If you die, a normal guy would find another.
If you die, Edward Cullen would kill himself because life without you isn’t worth living.

(“Well, I wasn’t going to live without you..” He rolled his eyes as if that fact were childishly obvious. “..but I wasn’t sure how to do it. I knew Emmet and Jasper would never help so I was thinking maybe I would go to Italy and do something to provoke the Volturi.”)

As you leave the house, a normal guy would say: “Bye, see ya!”
As you leave the house Edward Cullen would say: “Come back to me, love.”

(He smiled my favorite smile. “Hurry back to me.”
“Always.”)

As you come back home, a normal guy would be watching TV and wouldn’t even notice.
As you come back home, Edward Cullen would be welcoming you by playing the piano with a song just for you.

(“I heard the music before I was out of the car. Edward hadn’t touched his piano since the night Alice left. Now, as I shut the door, I heard the song morph through a bridge and change into my lullaby. Edward was welcoming me home.’)

A normal guy would wait for you to make him breakfast.
Edward Cullen would make you breakfast everyday.

While you are both out for dinner, a normal guy wouldn’t keep his eyes off the sexy waitress.
Edward Cullen wouldn’t even notice the waitress was a female.

A normal guy, while driving, would keep one hand on the wheel and one hand on the radio.
Edward Cullen, while driving, would keep one hand on the wheel and the other attached to yours.

While far apart in different places, a normal guy would say: “I miss you.”
While far apart in different places, Edward Cullen would say: “It’s like you’ve taken half myself with you”

A normal guy wouldn’t care or notice if you had nightmares.
Edward Cullen would sing until your nightmares went away.

(“Do you want me to sing to you? I’ll sing all night if it will keep the bad dreams away.”)

A normal guy does it with everyone.
Edward Cullen only does it with one.

This one is a link of 28 Reasons That ‘Twilight the Movie’ is Better Than ‘Twilight the Book’ : http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2008/11/slideshow_of_twilight.html

I have nothing against the novel nor the movie because both of them I enjoyed, but I can’t help but laugh in this very entertaining slideshow comparing the two! D

Stephenie Meyer’s TWILIGHT Saga (Warning: Contains Spoilers!)

twilight-saga

If you haven’t read any of the Twilight novels above and are planning to read them in the near future, I firmly suggest that you DO NOT read this blog and browse somewhere else or better yet start reading the novels first. This will contain all of my personal views and comments plus results of my research about all of the 4 books of the Twilight Saga including a few extra. Don’t say that I did not warn you! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. ;)

I have to admit that I got hooked in this vampire-human love story saga that Stephenie Meyer created. Honestly, I have no idea about it since I’m not very much into reading novels (I easily get bored) and I’m not familiar with the author. I just saw a small article about the release of the last novel, Breaking Dawn, in the promotional brochure by Powerbooks that I received and I got intrigued by the book cover and the synopsis.

When I heard a news about the latest movie of Harry Potter (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) being moved from it’s original release of November 21, 2008 to next year to give way to the release of Twilight the Movie (apparently the same release date) I got really more intrigued as to how and why this movie which is also an adaptation of the novel Twilight got Harry Potter be moved!

I’ve asked some friends and acquaintances of mine who have read the Twilight Series, and they all have the same comment about the book one which is Twilight: The Best Romantic Novel Ever! A guy friend of mine, Joe, who also got intrigued about the novel was also hooked into reading it! I even opened a topic about it on the Rusher’s forum to help me get some convincing comments from other readers and it seems that these novels are very highly recommended! And so I’ve asked around as to how much each book cost (paperback and hard-bound) but I didn’t get any chance to buy me a copy of the first book. I didn’t want to be left out when the movie is released and I don’t have any idea about the novel so I settled for the ebook that was sent to me by Cherry, a friend who really influenced me into reading it (Thank you so much, by the way!).

Oh, and when I saw the movie trailers of Twilight, I am so into reading the novel! Oh well, I confess that when I saw Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, the vampire from the novel (who also played Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) that got me decided that I will watch the movie and read the novel! D

And now I give you my opinion about the 4 novels that I have read via ebook only and I can tell you right now that you can never make me read a novel this long using only an ebook and reading it in front of the pc for long hours which is so uncomfortable if it’s not really worth the time!

Book One: TWILIGHT – I’ve read from Stephenie Meyer’s website about how she got the idea of a vampire-human love story, got it from one of her dreams, yes, literally! She dreamt of a dark night with a faint character of a human woman and a handsome vampire confessing their love for each other. Who would have thought that this dream of hers will bring her a lot of fortune afterward! And indeed, I agree with everyone who have read this novel, it is indeed the most romantic love story I have ever read in my whole life (or existence ;) ), the way the author described the characters, their emotions, their conversations, the development of the love affair and the twists and turns of the story were just so great! This novel were told from Bella Swan’s perspective though and so it is a female’s view of what happened. There is another novel that I hope will be out soon when the author feels like finishing it, Midnight Sun, which is written from Edward Cullen’s perspective. I have read it’s partial draft (a PDF file that can be downloaded from the website) and I must say that it is more interesting to see, hear and feel Edward’s side of the story of the Twilight. While I’m reading Midnight Sun I also opened the Twilight to compare and relate each side of their story, like their First Sight of each other, what really is happening to Edward when she first got a sniff of Bella’s blood, etc. I’ve also read some of the outtakes from Twilight (outtake – part of the novel that was removed by the editors) where you will know Alice’s character more and some details about the Prom night.

Book Two: NEW MOON – Okay, to be honest, I got so depressed by this novel to a point that I wanted it finished as soon as possible to make me get over it quickly! I didn’t even go online to chat with my friends for two days until I’ve really finished the novel and get to the part where Bella and Edward are reunited in the end. I hate the part where Edward left Bella without anything to hold on to, well of course I have been there and I didn’t want that feeling back that’s why I hated that part. I can’t really say that I like the part about her “friendship” with Jacob Black (who turned out to be a ‘werewolf’, the only enemy of the vampires) but then I realized that it is necessary to the story and it really helped Bella to become human again and not be a zombie anymore! The only part of the novel that got me excited was when Bella and Alice were on their way to Italy to rescue Edward from his suicide attempt because of a BIG misunderstanding. Alice saw in her “vision” that Bella jump off a cliff but didn’t see Jacob rescuing her so she thought that Bella died. Then Rosalie told Edward that Bella is dead and then Edward called Charlie pretending to be Carlisle to ask about Bella but Jacob was the one who answered the phone since he stopped Bella from answering it and told “Carlisle” that Charlie is in a funeral which is true but it’s a funeral of his friend who died but then Edward thought that it was Bella’s funeral so he went to the Volturi in Italy to provoke them into killing him! Of course, Bella was just in the nick of time to rescue Edward from his stupidity and so the story ended with a dilemma of choosing between her special friendship with Jacob or her undying love for Edward. And the problem with the Volturi checking on her if she has become a vampire or maybe dead and the pursuit of Victoria to kill Bella. And of course, the marriage proposal of Edward which Bella accepted, actually it’s a compromise to make her a vampire by Edward after the wedding. A nice way to end a novel, huh? D

Book Three: ECLIPSE – This is where the legends about the Quileute tribe were elaborated and the real story behind the change of their human form into that of a ‘wolf’ and of course how they got to be the ‘worthy’ enemies of the vampires. Here in this novel where the love triangle dilemma between Edward, Bella and Jacob have been highlighted especially in that scene where they go camping in the snowy mountains where Jacob is the only one suited to ‘warm up’ Bella and Edward couldn’t do anything about it, the Cullen family with an alliance with the ‘werewolves’ to fight against Victoria’s coven of newborn vampires and the elaborate fight scene between Edward and Victoria and also between Seth (a new ‘werewolf’) and Riley (Victoria’s ‘partner’). And also here is where Bella told Edward that she wanted him to ‘make love’ with her in her human state before turning her into a vampire, the last human experinece as she calls it! Bella’s engagement ring was also introduced here, mind you that they really made a ring exactly as the author described it in the novel and now being sold in Twilight Teez ranging from $59-$2,199. Oh and also Bella’s bracelet with a carved wolf and a crystal heart (turned out to be a diamond) charms attached to it. And this I really hate, in the eleventh hour of the novel, the part where Bella kissed Jacob and realized that she’s ‘in love’ with Jacob! I mean what’s up with that? How can you be ‘in love’ with someone else while you are so deeply and madly in love with someone? For me, that never really happened! You have to be falling out of love with someone before you realize that you are ‘in love’ with another person. Oh well, the author needed something to keep the spice of the story so I forgive that! And so this novel ended with a preparation to Bella and Edward’s wedding.

Book Four: BREAKING DAWN – A new car for Bella, a Mercedes Guardian, her “before” car and a Ferrari F430 for her “after” car. Very nice! So this is where you will witness their wedding, their honeymoon (yes, a real honeymoon while Bella’s still a human) and her “fast forward” pregnancy! Yes, she and Edward had an immortal half-human half-vampire child, Renesmee Carlie aka Nessie, who grew up so fast inside her mom’s belly and grew a lot faster when she was born! Imagine that in no more than 3 years after her birth she will be an adult already! And this child became the reason for the Volturi to visit and punish the Cullen Family for the “news” of creating an immortal child which is very much a taboo. Also, after giving birth to her daughter, Bella almost died until she was changed to become a vampire because of Edward’s ingenuity of injecting his “vampire venom” directly into Bella’s weak beating heart. But Bella isn’t really an average newborn vampire here who doesn’t know how to control herself, she was very remarkable indeed and even Jasper couldn’t believe it! The cover of the novel where you can see two chess pieces, a Queen and a Pawn in the background, showed the big difference of the old Bella and the new Bella. Here is where you will know what “super power” Bella has and how she used it against the Volturi, of course with the help of some of their vampire friends who were preaparing for a battle against the Volturi army. And I was surprised by the turn of events where Jacob imprinted on Renesmee so he’s now a member of Bella’s family (which makes her Jacob’s mother-in-law…)! First, a vampire and a human, and now a half-human half-vampire and a ‘werewolf’ (which later on called the ’shape-shifter’ and not actually a werewolf)! What an odd pair! Anyways, I love the ending of this saga, though I wished that it had a blood bath but of course it’s not really that necessary to the story, but I really want to know how all of those vampires and ’shape-shifters’ will fight the Volturi army with Bella as their SHIELD! Oh well, still we have a very happy ending indeed! An eternity of love and making love between Bella and Edward! D

Before I end this blog, I want to share with you the composition made by Edward for Bella, titled “Bella’s Lullaby”…Enjoy!

Warning Signs of a Relationship Headed for the Rocks

Monday, 27 October, 2008

A close friend of mine is having some relationship problems right now and she’s been asking almost everyone in our group what went wrong between her and the long-term boyfriend. As I was searching for some similar problems I have stumbled upon this article that I really wanted to post here, I know that it will help to understand better what really is going on within a relationship that’s heading for the rock bottom.

 ♀♂ ♀♂ ♀♂ ♀♂ ♀♂ ♀♂ ♀♂ ♀♂

troubled_relationship.jpgI have talked to a lot of women who cry over their relationship. I listen closely each time and wonder, with all the bad things happening and the way she is being treated, why is she even staying?

Are you also going through the same thing? Then it’s time to figure out your relationship. It might have changed over the years, and maybe this is no longer the relationship you wanted before. Here are warning signs that your relationship is in trouble.

Frequent fighting.
You fight about big issues and bicker on minor ones. Maybe, both of you are quick-tempered, and sometimes you can’t seem to find anything nice to say. There’s hostility every time you talk. As a result, being with your partner is not fun anymore, and you feel happier when you are doing different things; you’d rather go out with friends than go on a date with him.

Diminished or lack of sex life. If physical intimacy is gone, there’s definitely a problem. It usually stems from a really bad sex life or unresolved problems that developed into distaste between the two of you. One of you might start fantasizing about another person, and that might eventually lead to unfaithfulness.

Cheating. This is the most common, obvious, and, I believe, most painful sign (if not the cause) that your relationship is headed for the rocks. It is never an accident but a result of discontent and tarnished self-concept. When this happens, the relationship will never be the same. It is difficult to forgive and quite impossible to forget. Consequently, it will be very difficult to recuperate from the trauma and loss of trust.

Growing separately and building different dreams. This is the saddest sign of all. While one dreams of living abroad in hopes of a better life, the other insists on staying in spite of initially agreed upon plans of migrating.

These are just some of the warning signs of a troubled relationship. There are other soft signs that warrant immediate attention and action. Maintaining a responsible and happy relationship is a challenge. Take action before your problems develop into an irresolvable situation. Talk to your partner, communicate, and invite him to new activities to avoid boredom. Discover things together.

Both parties should take part in nurturing the relationship. If sexual activities become routine, engage in adventurous sex: try doing it in different places or use paraphernalia. You can also try seeking professional help from a marriage counselor or sex therapist.

Remember, you have to exhaust all efforts before you throw in the towel. Sometimes beauty comes after chaos. But if you think it is really hopeless, don’t force it, baby. Move on, journey through life with grace, and one day, your greatest love will find you.

Archuleta and Cook: The Battle is ON!

Saturday, 11 October, 2008

This is one of my post at The Morning Rush Forum under the topic, “the battle of the davids” by Geyp. ;)

Archuleta’s “CRUSH” – I must admit that it gave me such a nasty LSS when I first heard this. I hated myself for it! (hehehe…) I’ve already expected that he’ll sing this kind of song anyway. And in the very ripe time of pop songs, his song debuted at #2! So this round (just for the Billborad Hot 100) is for Archuleta.

Now, I’m posting here some facts about David Archuleta:
“Crush” has set some records:

1. The highest debut, at #2, on the Hot 100 this year.
2. The highest debut of all Idol album singles on the Hot 100
3. The highest position of all Idol album singles (tied with Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone”) on the Hot 100.
4. The highest chart position for an Idol, period, since Taylor Hicks coronation single, “Do I Make You Proud” debuted at #1 in 2006.

Cook’s “Light On” – I first heard this while I was ironing clothes, and it stopped me from what I was doing because I knew that it is David Cook’s song! I didn’t feel that kind of LSS thing but definitely it got me…and as I am hearing it everyday it sticks to me like super glue unlike Archuleta’s song which made me want to tear my ears out every time I hear it playing on the radio! Ok, his song didn’t debut on the record high like that of Archuleta’s but as Chico said, this kind of song will definitely have long legs that it will make it’s way to the top and it will stick there for a long time, just like what happened with “Time Of My Life”.

Now for some facts about David Cook:
David Cook, has already broke several Billboard chart records even before the release of his sophomore album.

For the Billboard chart week ending May 25, 2008, David Cook established a feat of having eleven songs debut on the Hot 100 beating the previous record set by Miley Cyrus of Disney’s Hannah Montana in 2006 when the teen star had six songs that debuted on the chart.

David’s American Idol single, “The Time of My Life” which is also the winning song in the Idol songwriting competition, debuted at no. 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

David’s eleven charting songs also gave him the most songs by one artist on the Hot 100 of any week in the Nielsen SoundScan era (which began in 1991), and the most of any era since The Beatles placed 14 songs on the chart the week of April 11, 1964.

So there…my opinions and some facts… geek
